Zombie Round-Up: Featured Ads (April 2021)

We kid a LOT, but one thing we don't joke about is that we truly write words for ANYTHING!

An illustrated zombie mascot proudly gestures toward a corkboard covered in varied ad mockups—like a cereal box, flyer, perfume ad, and car banner—while holding a stack of papers, with crumpled drafts and a pen jar on the floor nearby.

We kid a LOT, but one thing we don't joke about is that we truly write words for ANYTHING! Toilet paper, taxidermy, roofing, doesn't matter -- if it needs to sell, we've got a zombie who can write it.

Check out the latest Zombie Round-Up to see some of our favorite ads from our talented writers this month. Every one of these started the same way every good ad starts: figure out what the reader actually cares about, then write the headline that earns the next sentence.

E-Commerce: Sustainable Toilet Paper

This new UK-based brand needed to stand out in a market with something most people don't want to talk about . . . their bathroom habits! Most companies would say that was an impossible mission, but we like a challenge. While many of our ads and emails written for this company used cheeky humor, we went for engaging and energetic without the potty talk for this ad -- proof you don't need to lean on the obvious joke to make an embarrassing product feel likeable.

E-Commerce: Unique Gifts + Homeware

What do you write for an e-comm retail biz that sells gifts with short and sassy sayings? A short and sassy ad focused on embracing the twisted humor we all have! Match the tone of the product, not the tone of a generic 'shop now' template, and the copy does the selling for you.

Service-Based: Roofing Company

In a market where free estimates and complimentary consultations are in no short supply, it can be hard to catch the attention of a potential roofing customer. But put that offer in a poem . . . ? Now we're talking! It's the same principle behind a good headline that filters and hooks instead of blending into every other roofer's ad in the feed -- if the format is unexpected, people stop scrolling long enough to read the offer.
