What Is an Autonomous AI Team?

An autonomous AI team is a group of AI agents, each with a defined job, that plans and carries out multi-step work while a person approves the moments that matter. A chatbot answers one prompt. A team takes the whole job.

That line isn't our spin. IBM defines an AI agent as "a system or program capable of autonomously performing tasks on behalf of a user or another system by designing its workflow and utilizing available tools." Gartner describes AI assistants as tools that "depend on human input and do not operate independently."

Now put several agents together. Give each one a job and a list of things it won't do. Decide where they have to stop and ask a person. That's the difference between a pile of AI agents for business and a team.

According to MIT's Project NANDA report from July 2025, 95% of enterprise generative AI pilots delivered little to no measurable impact on profit and loss. The trouble was tools that don't adapt and don't fit how the work gets done.

Anything you hand a job to needs a manager. AI agents too.

What Is the Creative Department for Claude Code?

The Creative Department for Claude Code is 32 Claude Code agents in seven departments: web pages, brand and campaign, social and content, video, web development, growth, and quality control. A creative director briefs the work and reviews it. Nothing is published, sent, deployed, deleted, or paid for until you say go.

Here's how a job moves. You talk to one thing, the director, in your main Claude Code session. The director sends the job to the right department. Each agent has one job and a written list of what it won't do. A copywriter doesn't design. A reviewer doesn't rewrite.

Then the gates. Voice, truth, and the law each get their own checker. The fact-checker is never skipped. Finished work goes to the creative director before it reaches you, with the verdict attached.

One honest note on "you say go." It's a rule written into the director's instructions, not a lock on a door. That's one more reason somebody at your company should know how the system works.

Agent files are free online. A folder of them is a staff with no manager, no review, and no idea who you are. The department is everything around them: the director, the gates, and a setup interview that briefs the team on your company before it writes a word.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Creative Department for Claude Code costs $9,500, one time. That covers:

  • 32 working agents, the creative director included
  • Eleven knowledge files the agents read, most with sources and a "Verified as of" date
  • The director's standing rules and the routing file
  • The setup interview and its eleven questionnaires
  • The installer and the checker
  • Templates for your brand file, voice guide, and ideal-customer profile
  • A worked example: a full set of answers for an invented company, so you can see the shape
  • Docs on how the team works, the quality gates, and how to change the team to fit you
  • One year of updates and product improvements from your purchase date
  • Answers to your questions by email

No subscription. No tiers. No "starting at." The number on this page is the number.

Claude Code is a separate cost, on your own plan. So are any optional tools you add.

What Happens After I Buy?

You get an email with the download and step-by-step instructions for installing it in Claude Code.

You can also log in on our site with the email you bought with and download the latest version available to you.

Then come the setup interview and the install. Both are below.

Do I Get Updates?

Yes. For one year from your purchase date, you get updates and product improvements. They're based on what buyers tell us, so the department gets better from people using it.

New versions go on your download page. Log in with your purchase email and grab one.

What Do I Need to Run It?

You need Claude Code installed and signed in on your own account, a Mac or Linux computer with bash, and 2 to 6 hours to answer the setup interview. On Windows, use WSL. The kit says Windows was not tested.

A few agents use extra tools: ffmpeg and ffprobe for video checks, WhisperX for caption checks, Remotion for coded motion, an image generator, and a text-to-speech engine. All optional. Only the agents that use them need them.

Accounts, logins, and keys are yours to supply. The kit tells you never to paste one into an answer.

The install is careful on purpose. A dry run shows every step and changes nothing. The real run backs up any file it would replace, and a checker confirms it worked. Change your mind, and the backup lets you put things back.

Do I Need to Be Technical?

You need to be comfortable running a few terminal commands, and one or two people in your company should understand how the system works.

Think of it like an office network. You wouldn't set one up without somebody who knows how it runs. This is artificial intelligence. Things break. API keys expire. In a one- or two-person business, that person is usually the owner or one team member.

The setup interview is where your company comes in. Claude Code asks the questions one at a time and writes your answers into plain files you can edit.

  • Fast path: about 55 questions, about 2 hours (about 3 if you have to look things up).
  • Full path: 206 questions, about 5 to 6 hours, split across as many sittings as you like.

Your answers fill in your brand, because the department doesn't come with one. The fast path leaves your voice guide thin and your proof, client, and competitor lists mostly empty, so don't expect a fully trained team after two hours. You can rerun any single topic later. You can also answer "unknown." The team writes it down and asks when it needs that fact.

Stuck on something? Reply to your delivery email with the question, and the Ad Zombies team answers it.

If your people need help getting comfortable with AI tools in general, that's what AI training for your team is for.

Not for you if you want someone else to install it or run it.

What Is Not Included?

Here's what's not in the box.

  • Your brand. Your interview answers supply it.
  • Someone to install or run it. You do both. If you get stuck, reply to your delivery email with the question.
  • A runner for unattended jobs. The docs describe an optional pattern. Out of the box, you run the team by talking to it.
  • Accounts, logins, or keys. Yours to get, yours to pay for. That includes Claude Code.
  • Some skills. A few Claude Code skills the agents were written around aren't included, such as a full copywriting framework. The docs say what each one did and how to work without it.
  • Names for the agents. They go by role. Name them if you like.

We'd rather you read this list now than discover it at the install step.

How Does Ad Zombies Run Its Own AI Team?

Ad Zombies runs its own operation on ZACH, the Zombie Agent Coordination Hub. ZACH does operations work: inbox, follow-ups, proposals, handoffs. That's a different thing from the Creative Department for Claude Code. ZACH is our system. It's not what you buy.

Here's one flow we run. Someone chats with the assistant on our website and leaves their contact info. If it's a new-business lead, it goes to the right AI teammate, with Ken copied. The teammate drafts the follow-up. Then it waits in an approvals queue until a human says send.

The rules are specific. Proposals, deliverables, and ad spend always wait for a person. Every proposal our AI sales rooms put together waits for Ken to send it. Routine emails and bookings can go out on their own, at the autonomy level each AI teammate is set to.

Ad Zombies is a multimillion-dollar creative house, and we run our own inbox, follow-ups, proposals, and handoffs on it.

Zach, the chat assistant in the corner of this page, hands new leads to this system. He'll introduce himself as Zach, not as the Zombie Agent Coordination Hub. ZACH is where those leads go.

What If I Need More Than a Creative Department?

Inbox, follow-up, proposal, and handoff automation is operations work, and the department isn't built for it. For that, you work with us as consultants. Consulting starts at $20,000 a month and is priced by what you need. That's a starting price, not an ending price.

Operations work looks like this:

  • The quote request that sits in an inbox for three days.
  • The follow-up nobody sends after the first call.
  • The proposal that gets rebuilt from scratch, again.
  • The handoff between sales and whoever does the work, where details go to die.

An AI team can take jobs like these.

Two ways in:

And if the department covers what you need, buy it. You don't need us too.
